Subject: [ISSForum] Installing SRs and XPU - Part III

Hi All!

First off, the process of manually installing SRs and XPU has become a battle with
patience that I am quickly loosing.

It seems that you must have Site Protector SR 1 installed before you install SR 2.
There is a knowledge base article that says, reference to RealSecure SiteProtector 2.0:

You must have the SiteProtector database updated to at least XPU 1.21 before applying
Service Pack 1.

So I go to the ISS and download all the database XPU since Febuary and four XML files:

XPU_1_5.xml
XPU_2_0.xml
XPU_2_12.xml
XPU_2_2.xml

These I copied into:

F:\Programme\ISS\RealSecure SiteProtector\Application Server\XPU

The DB XPUs (six of them) I copied into:

F:\Programme\ISS\RealSecure SiteProtector\Application Server\XPU\update\Site_Protector

These all had a .zip extension which I simple removed, so the files all end in .xpu.
Is this right so far?

In the Site Manager, I select the group, which contains the core and database, then
click the Sensor tab. I right click the Database line and then "Apply Update". I am
given no choice of options, and X-Press Update is selected. After click next, I get a
list of the the DB XPUs from 17 upward. However, I cannot actually select any of them.
So all I can do is click Next and I soon get this error:

IssdkXPUManager returned error downloading file
update\Site_Protector\SPDB_XPU_20031001.xpu.Error encountered or unable to send an
HTTP request to the server.
[ID=0xc7330018]
0% downloaded - update\Site_Protector\SPDB_XPU_20031001.xpu
Downloading update file update\Site_Protector\SPDB_XPU_20031001.xpu for SiteProtector
Database Update (XPU 33) Update file update\Site_Protector\SPDB_XPU_20031016.xpu has
already been downloaded, no need to download.

Of course the Site Manager is "unable to send an HTTP request to the server". That's
why I am doing a manual update. Also the file SPDB_XPU_20031016.xpu is one of of the
ones I download. However, when I click "Finish" and restart the Site Manager, the
version is still listed as "2.0 (XPU 1.16)". Do I need to completely restart the
services?

One thing I noticed is that there were many references to downloading ..ini files
along with the XPUs. However, I did not find any .ini files on the download page.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Regards,

Jim Mohr
