Title: Message
Some additional details on the workaround that I used at NETSEC might help everyone.

If you use the host file method to make the names more detailed (we use <customer-state-descriptor_netbios-name_IP address) you need to make sure that the host file is the same on all systems that have the console software installed or that only the console used by a user with role_administrator has the host file.  Otherwise, any user with role_administrator that performs an update/refresh from the Asset view, will be able to change/update the display name of the sensors based on their local host file, or if their machine is set up to look up to a DNS (most are obviously), your SiteProtector may change the name based on the DNS entries (which might not be what you want) of your environment.

Unfortunately, with all my poking around the SiteProtector SQL database, I have not found a table where I can manually change the sensor name info., if anyone has come across that info., I'd appreciate knowing where it is located.

I've already submitted (in mid-August) to ISS product manager a suggestion to allow editing of some columns from the views and the capability to add our own column info and be able to edit those entries, but I don't know the status of that suggestion.

You can work around this problem by creating a host file that reflects the IP address and NetBIOS name.  When the host file is used to resolves the IP address, your custom name will reflect the information you want.

No. You cant.

This one should probably go to the Site Protector product manager at ISS if you want such a feature, ask your customers to email enhancements as well, they are the ones paying the maintainence bills.

Does anybody here know how to customize the Sensor or Asset windows on
the GUI? I have clients who want to change these to display the NetBIOS
and IP address of sensors. But I can't find anyplace where this can be
done. Am I just be boneheaded and missing something?
