Jim, Hats off for your determination to take on the Site Protector for your company. Port 12 is for JDBC, and a full list of Site Protector ports can be found in answer id 1976 at the knowledgebase on www.iss.net.

I am trying figure out exactly what ports are needed for Site Protector, Server Sensor and Network Sensor. I have found repeated references that talk about JDBC using port 12. For example, the Sensor controller sends data to JDBC on port 12. However, what is JDBC used for in the context. I know what JDBC is, but in the install guide the only reference is that it uses port 12. In the strategy guide thre is nothing, nor in the technical reference. Since there will be a firewall between the app server and the site database, it might be necessary to open port 12, but I am not sure. Any help is greatly appreaciated.
