Jim If you make a fresh install with SP3 you don't need to enable DB-Chaining anymore.

However, even after installing it I cannot enable the database chaining. There is a KB article that explains how to do it: osql -E [Press Enter] 1> exec sp_dboption 'RealSecureDB', 'db chaining', 'true' [Press Enter] 2> go [Press Enter] This says that 'db chaining' is not a recognized option. In the enterprise manager, I right-click the RealSecureDB and choose properties. In the options tab there nothing to indicate db chaining. (I was told to check here by someone else.) When I look in the sql_inst.log, it says: MSI (c) (94:2C): Product: Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine -- Configuration completed successfully. Even after a reboot, I cannot find a way to enable db chaining. Thus, I am stuck and cannot upgrade anything. I would really appreaciate any help I can get. I am trying to install SP2 for SiteProtector 2.0. It requires MSDE SP3a. So, I downloaded the file sql2kdesksp3.exe from Microsoft and run it, which unpacks the file. Then in the appropriate directory I run setup.exe after a minute, I get and error saying "The instance name specified is invalid". The version of SQL is the one provided with site protector and SELECT @@VERSION shows: Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.194 (Intel X86) Since the installation exists after the above error, I am stuck at this point. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
