Hi,

I cannot install the Server Sensor 6.5 in some Solaris 6 machine. If remove and
install Server Sensor 7.0 then have to reboot the machine.

Best Regards

Ivan Chan

Subject: [ISSForum] Solaris Server Sensor 6.5 upgrade to 7.0

Hi All!

I am finally getting the chance to upgrade our Solaris Server Sensors
from 6.5 to 7.0. Doing it through the Site Protector console says that
it needs to reboot the machine when it is done. However, there is a KB
article No. 85 "Quick Tips on managing a RealSecure Sensor on Solaris"
which describes a manual re-install that does not require a reboot. Note
that the re-install removes the original version before installing the
new one. However, it says nothing about rebooting.

Personally, I would prefer not to have to reboot the machines, but the
whole thing confuses me as to why in one case there is a reboot and not
in the other. Also, are there any real problems removing and
re-installing the sensor? I know that I need to be sure to synchronize
the sensors logs and copy the keys, but that should not be a problem.

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

Regards,

Jim Mohr
