Hello Paul,

Contacting Technical Support is probably the best option to really determine the cause
of the problems you are having. The problem could lie in the sensor, the SP server,
something in between, or all of the above.

We would start with the specific versions you are using. Having the latest XPU's for
Scanner and SiteProtector Service Pack 3 is essential. Then we would get the failure
info off of the sensor from the Discovery and Controller log files.

For SQL Server, you can try locking the os page file statically at something a bit
higher than what the OS suggests. If the OS recommends 3000MB, then I'd opt for 4000.
This may help the SQL Server's run away memory issue.

I hope some of this information helps,
Ben Layer

Subject: [ISSForum] Problems with scanning and other stuff

We recently purchased and installed Internet Security Scanner and Site
Protector. Both are running on rack mount Dells with 2.4GHz dual
processors and 2GB of RAM. I set up scheduled discovery scans last
week, as follows:
1/2 of a class B
1/2 of a class B
All of a class A

When I left the office midday on Wednesday, the first scan was not yet
completed and the second two were pending. When I returned to the
office today (I just returned from a three day conference), I discovered
that two of the scans had failed. The first scan was completed
successfully (0.0 - 80.255). When I checked Site Protector, the Event
Collector, Scanner and Desktop Controller all are offline, and I can't
seem to restart them. The Deployment Manager, Site Protector Core and
Site Protector Database are all active. Is this a known problem?

I logged in to the scanner server, and the scanner showed sqlserver.exe
using over 1.5GB of memory! I restarted the process and it now shows
15K of memory usage. Is this a known problem?

What the heck is going on?
