Hi all,I have used the SANS "Gold Standard" template available with the CIS Benchmark tools at http://www.cisecurity.org/bench_win2000.html before. Their download page is confusing, but you just need to download the Scoring Tool Archive (CIS-Win.exe). The templates are included.
I am wondering if there is somewhere any documentation about how to harden W2K(without making it unusable...) for network sensor 7.0.
I plan to have the sniffing interface in stealth mode, but i am still suspicious about Windows security. Does anybody of you knows where to find the right tips to protect this box ?
You're best off trying the template on a test machine first, and adjusting it if needed to suit your requirements, before deploying on a production machine. But I think from memory I used pretty much the default config.
