WCCP is Cisco's Web Cache Communication Protocol. More information could be found on www.cisco.com. WCCP uses L2 forwarding to trnasmit user's HTTP requests from router to Cisco Cache Engine (CCE). Are there any abilities to control and analyse WCCP traffic with Network sensor? Or, may be, capability to analyse WCCP is planned to be added in future releases?
Suppose a situation when there is no ability to control traffic before router (for example, there are too many channels to router and to set up one Network Sensor (RNE) for every channel is too expensive) and after CCE there is no opportunity to place sensor too. In that case the only way is to control traffic (HTTP, FTP, etc) that is tunnelled with WCCP in the path from router to CCE, but now it is impossible, because RNE does not understand WCCP. --- Best regards, Sergey V.
