Hello Sunil: Thanks for the report. Would it be possible to get some additional information regarding this issue? If so, please send the following to me directly:
1.) Session Log created from the scan. This will be located at C:\Program Files\ISS\issSensors_scanner_1\log 2.) WINMSD Report of the target system that was scanned - Retrieve with the report with following steps: ---------------------- Start -> Run -> winmsd When the 'System Information' screen comes up, select 'Action' -> 'Save As Text File' or 'Save As System Information File'. ---------------------- If you can send me the above 2 files, it should give us some additional insight into what is happening exactly. With this MS03-018 check, any machine that has an unpatched IIS install will be flagged whether or not it is running. Since this is a patch check, the purpose is to tell you whether or not you are patched, which can be slightly different than whether or not you are truly vulnerable. If you have any questions, let me know. I am running an ISS internet scanner 7.0 with XPU 7.30 against Windows 2000 systems. It reports MS03-018 patch is missing and IIS is vulnerable. But these machines do not have IIS installed! Verified this with the services running and MBSA Any body has this experience? Why is this happening? Appreciate help in this regard Regards, Sunil Varkey _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328. _______________________________________________ ISSForum mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] TO UNSUBSCRIBE OR CHANGE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION, go to https://atla-mm1.iss.net/mailman/listinfo/issforum To contact the ISSForum Moderator, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The ISSForum mailing list is hosted and managed by Internet Security Systems, 6303 Barfield Road, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30328.
