Peter,

Almost any sensor or component update does not matter whether you
apply the Service Packs or the XPUs first, or it will only allow you
to apply one before the other becomes available (example: Core
updates).

If you are wondering which components to update first, a good general
rule is to get your components up to date in this order (if updates
are available for these components):
- SiteProtector Database (because it is the heart of SiteProtector)
- Event Collector (because in one case you need to do EC updates
before you do Core updates)
- Desktop Controller/Agent Manager, Deployment Manager
- SiteProtector Core
- Any sensor updates

Note: If you are many Core Service Packs behind -- for example, on
SP2 or before -- you may consider uninstalling SiteProtector and
installing a clean version of SiteProtector Service Pack 5 (which is
downloadable from the Download Center). Keep in mind, if you do this,
you will lose all of the data in your database. I only say this
because there are a LOT of updates between then and now -- it depends
on whether you want it to go fast and don't mind losing your data, or
want it to go slow and want to keep your data.
