We ran into the same issue on a few or our scanners during the SP2 update. In order to resolve, I would stop the sensor controller service on the app server, delete the sensor file in the temp directory in the sensor controller on the app server, then restart the sensor controller service. If this does not resolve reboot the database and the application server and the sensor should come back online.
