http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/archite c/8_ar_cs_79kj.asp When you connect, the SQL Server 2000 client software requests a Windows trusted connection to SQL Server 2000. Windows does not open a trusted connection unless the client has logged on successfully using a valid Windows account. The properties of a trusted connection include the Windows NT and Windows 2000 group and user accounts of the client that opened the connection. SQL Server 2000 gets the user account information from the trusted connection properties and matches them against the Windows accounts defined as valid SQL Server 2000 logins. If SQL Server 2000 finds a match, it accepts the connection. When you connect to SQL Server 2000 using Windows 2000 Authentication, your identification is your Windows NT or Windows 2000 group or user account. The Microsoft Windows Me and Windows 98 operating systems do not support the server side of the trusted connection API. When SQL Server is running on Windows Me or Windows 98, it does not support Windows Authentication. Users must supply a SQL Server login when they connect. When SQL Server is running on Windows NT or Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 8, and Windows 95 clients can connect to it using Windows 2000 Authentication. -Mike -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Constantinos Constantinou Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2005 2:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [ISSForum] MS-SQL server non-trusted & trusted connection successful Dear all, I have noticed "Microsoft SQL Server non-trusted connection successful" and "Microsoft SQL Server trusted connection successful" Which connections are considered as trusted and which are considered as non-trusted?
