Marco, it's not a normal occurrence, but I have seen it occur with large scans. The DBS database is only capable of 2 gigs of data, and the closer you get to that, the more sluggish the performance you'll see. Even if you purge it, a large scan can still fill a database. If you are performing a large scan, you might want to try splitting the scan up into smaller scans.
