## Purpose of the change Make the release scripts work on macOS and Linux, with mvnw or an installed Maven. Found while preparing flink-connector-kafka 5.1.0. ## Brief change log - Stop exporting `SHELLOPTS`, which breaks `bin/mvn` on macOS - Make the `MVN` override work - Fix the default project name in `stage_source_release.sh` - Commit only the poms in `update_branch_version.sh` - Keep macOS `._*` files out of the source tarball - Stop when Maven cannot read the version - Read the version through `MVN` in `release_snapshot_branch.sh` - Use portable `sed -i` in `update_japicmp_configuration.sh` - Drop the README's Maven variables, a workaround for the first item ## Verifying this change Ran the full workflow on macOS, Ubuntu, Amazon Linux and Alpine, with mvnw and Maven 3.8.6 and 3.9.16, remotes stubbed.
