I think we do need such a feature flag. Or if Impala can detect such an error,
i.e. "unsupported feature flags", and automatically disable the feature, that
would be much better.
Impala is just a compute engine. We are trying to improve the compatibility on
different Hive versions (e.g. IMPALA-10847, IMPALA-12349) or even get rid of
HMS (IMPALA-13401). It'd be nice to also improve the compatibility on different
Kudu versions.
