Description:
Currently Impala builds use OpenJDK 8 by default, which will be EOL on November
30, 2026 https://access.redhat.com/articles/1299013
Besides the JDK end of support more and more dependencies drop Java 8 support
and provide only releases that require a higher JRE version, which stops Impala
from bumping versions as the default JRE 8 would fail to load these new jars.
The goal is to move from Java 8 to 17 as default and stop building / running
tests with older versions.
