With the introduction of the ASF Boxer service committers can now link their
committer identity on apache.org to their identity on github.com, set up
federation, and exercise their committer privileges on github.com/apache/*
repos for which they are committers. This could be helpful when
gitbox.apache.org is unavailable for some reason.
ASF claims full 2-way synch between github.com and gitbox.apache.org. (see the
announcement on https://gitbox.apache.org)
For Impala this means that committers could now push new Impala commits to
github.com/apache/impala.git using their (linked) Github credentials.
The Impala helper script bin/push_to_asf.py contains a validity check for the
"Apache remote", verifying that it points to gitbox.apache.org. With federation
in place, this check should be extended to github.com/apache/impala.git as well.
