I think we can leave IMPALA-13794 hanle Iceberg tables and focus on non-Iceberg
tables in this ticket. CC [~jasonmfehr] , [~boroknagyz]
The estimates for non-Iceberg tables also need some updates, e.g.
PER_FD_MEM_USAGE_BYTES is 500 and might be too high, and as you mentioned,
don't account numBlocks for cloud storages.
The code change might be simple. But we need some experiments with heap dump
analysis to support that.
