After a bit of googling, I found that the java opt in artemis.profile should
have the following

-Xbootclasspath/a:$ARTEMIS_HOME/lib/jboss-logmanager-1.5.3.Final.jar
-Djava.util.logging.manager=org.jboss.logmanager.LogManager
