I think I may have just hit this with Ambari 2.7.1.0...
Looks like this may be the same as (or at least related to)
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AMBARI-7765.
The presentation wasn't registration failure, though, it was failure to deploy
with Kerberos (via API/Blueprint).
