   It's a bit of a slippery slope to be treating NaN unilaterally as null -- if 
we did that then `pa.array([nan])` should return a NullArray. It may make sense 
to have an option `nan_as_null` to toggle this behavior on and off (if off, 
then nan is treated as any other floating point value)
