I brought this up on the [mailing

and didn't hear objections to the current system of using the same version.
In case it helps I opened a [PR|https://github.com/apache/arrow/pull/3743] with
the initial changes that would make this possible but those would need to be
seen through once there is a decision to make an independent parquet C++
release.
