I use the docker image to build the packages, as described [here](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/AVRO/How+To+Release) (i.e. `./build.sh clean test dist`) so it would be the linux build. The way I understand, the "release" is actually the branch and the software, while the binary artifacts are just convenient.
