Hello!  After a long (LONG) delay, I'm really interested in getting the 1.11.2 
release candidate out!  Is someone interested in continuing [~mgrigorov]'s work 
in the meantime?

There's a couple of alternatives, all of them are fine!

1. Some can fix this forward quickly enough to make it into 1.11.2
2. We leave this as-is as a known issue with Schema resolution in the Rust SDK 
(which was also broken before, and it appears to me that the current state is 
not worse).
3. We revert the original fix and keep the 1.11.1 behaviour with this known 
issue.
4. We block the release until this is fixed.

I'm leaning towards (2) or (4) -- I don't think that I'll be learning Rust 
quickly enough to be useful for (1) ! :D
