I don't think this issue should be blocking the release because even if we
release the vendored gRPC version the follow up PR to update the use of the
vendored dependency on the code will still be needed and that looks like a huge
(and hellish) thing to cherry pick. WDYT? Maybe we should just move the version
where this will be fixed to 2.30.0
