Work Description: pcoet opened a new pull request #17033:
URL: https://github.com/apache/beam/pull/17033
* Document Maven-to-Gradle conversion for DataflowRunner.
* Create TODOs for other runner conversion steps.
* Change Gradle guidance to show Kotlin instead of Groovy.
* Tighten up writing and remove unnecessary stuff (too much wordz).
* Make numbering of procedures consistent.
* Remove command prompts (`$`, `PS>`) from commands, to make them easier to
copy.
* Normalize line length in markdown.
* Simplify Gradle execute task so that it reads from `--args` instead of `-D
exec.args`
* Update sample text creation step to use text of "King Lear", which is the
same as the default for DirectRunner.
I think this is a lot more streamlined, but let me know... Thanks!

> The Gradle command for running the WordCount example on Dataflow does not
> actually use the Dataflow Runner. See:
> But if you add `--runner=DataflowRunner` to -Dexec.args, you get an error:
> `Exception in thread "main" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown
> 'runner' specified 'DataflowRunner', supported pipeline runners
> [DirectRunner, PortableRunner, TestUniversalRunner]`
> Per [~lcwik]: "It is likely that the profiles in Maven aren't being converted
> over correctly to Gradle. (e.g. the additional stuff that -Pdataflow-runner
> is doing such as adding the DataflowRunner dep to the runtime classpath)"
> So it looks like we actually need to finish implementing the [Maven-to-Gradle
> conversion|https://docs.gradle.org/current/userguide/migrating_from_maven.html].
