Heejong Lee edited comment on BEAM-8901 at 12/6/19 11:33 PM:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Test still failed with -XX:MaxMetaspaceSize=512M. Heap dump inspection shows
that byte[] objects are occupying most of the memory and I can see half-million
empty HybridMemorySegments each owning byte[] of 32,792B.
You can also reproduce OOM and inspect heap dump by
1) cloning {{ihji:BEAM-7961}} branch
2) modifying "{{java \-jar ...}}" line in
{{sdks/python/scripts/run_flink_job_server.sh}} (adding
"{{\-XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError}}" and removing
"{{--reuse-flink-local-execution-environment}}")
3) executing {{:runners:flink:1.9:job-server:validateCrossLanguageRunner}} task

> Flink job server launches a new mini cluster every time we run the pipeline
> on Flink local environment. To prevent OOM, we need to reuse existing Flink
> local environment if possible.
