Julian Hyde commented on CALCITE-1099:
--------------------------------------

Ah yes, I had an old Hive branch. Now I see HIVE-12952.

I am fine if Cassandra support is broken if they use a version of Guava less
than 15 (and I see in CASSANDRA-9653 that Cassandra 3.0.x may be going up to
18). It means that people won't be able to run Calcite against both Hive and
Cassandra in the same JVM, but that's not likely.

If we are simply able to use the same pom.xml for everyone I would be delighted.

> The current version of the Java driver used in the Cassandra adapter does not
> support Cassandra server 3.0.x. Upgrading is a fairly straightforward
> process. However, the new version of the driver depends on Guava 15.0 and it
> looks like Calcite is currently pinned at 14.0.1 for compatibility with Hive
> (it looks like Spark is stuck on this version as well). Any thoughts on how
> to resolve this conflict?
