These changes get {{mvn verify}} running on both Oracle Java 1.8.0_131 and IBM
Java {{J9 VM (build 2.9, JRE 1.8.0 Linux amd64-64 Compressed References
20170901_363591 (JIT enabled, AOT enabled)}}, as well as Oracle Java {{Java(TM)
SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_79-b15)}} (if anyone still cares about
that).
