I still don't see why Hive is generating wacky relational algebra.
Is it true that
{code}
select ... from t group by (a, b) grouping sets (a)
{code}
is equivalent to
{code}
select ... from t group by grouping sets (a)
{code}
and if so, should Hive not translate query 1 the same as query 2?
