[~zabetak] I thought about this way before, when I implemented the PR.
However, it's hard or even impossible to do it this way IMHO.
In the sub-query, there may be several correlated variables in the tree, and
it's difficult to make sure which {{RelNode}} it refers to.
But it's easy in {{SqlToRelConverter}}, because we know each expression's
resolved scope, and we only need to locate all the correlated variables which
use current scope.
