Reviewing now. It seems that my revised fix of CALCITE-5689 (commit 
[bb94122f|https://github.com/apache/calcite/commit/bb94122fa43df86a2ef57fa375e3dc7792666eac])
 dealt with this. I'm going to merge the PR, which adds test cases.
