This might be actually a Phoenix problem. If that's the case, please move the
ticket.
When I try to insert a value into a BINARY(n) column, the server accepts only
raw un-encoded data in input parameter (which means I can't send arbitrary
binary data) and always returns base64-encoded data. It would be best to use
the same encoding on both input and output, and given that JSON strings just
can't handle binary data, base64 seems like the best solution.
