Fix For: 2.10.0
We should add a bit of insight to the base type converter registry, so we can
better see number of attempts, failures, misses, etc. And which miss from ->
to, was requests, but there was no suitable type converter.
The stats can then be exposed in JMX so ppl can see it at runtime.
