shashank created CAMEL-25752:
--------------------------------
Summary: camel-core - the rest DSL documents
skipBindingOnErrorCode with default false, but RestConfiguration defaults to
true
Key: CAMEL-25752
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-25752
Project: Camel
Issue Type: Bug
Components: camel-core
Reporter: shashank
Assignee: shashank
The {{skipBindingOnErrorCode}} option of the rest DSL is documented with
{{defaultValue = "false"}} in the model ({{RestConfigurationDefinition}},
{{RestDefinition}}, {{VerbDefinition}}, {{RestBindingDefinition}}; so also in
the catalog, the XSD / JSON schema and the docs), but
{{org.apache.camel.spi.RestConfiguration}} initialises it to {{true}} (main,
{{RestConfiguration.java}} line 84: {{private boolean skipBindingOnErrorCode =
true;}}). A route that does not set the option skips the binding of error
responses, which is the opposite of what the documentation says.
Either the documented default (the {{@Metadata}} of the four model classes, and
the generated catalog / schema / docs) should say {{true}}, or the runtime
default should change. Changing the runtime default changes behaviour for
existing routes, so documenting {{true}} looks like the safer fix.
Found while working on CAMEL-25721
(https://github.com/apache/camel/pull/28029), where the route dumps keep
options that are set explicitly to their documented default; raised by Claus
Ibsen in the review of that PR as a separate issue. Not changed in that PR.
