Claus Ibsen created CAMEL-26118:
-----------------------------------
Summary: camel-flowable - a producer created before its channel is
deployed fails every send with a NullPointerException, and the doc gives the
wrong URI scheme
Key: CAMEL-26118
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-26118
Project: Camel
Issue Type: Bug
Reporter: Claus Ibsen
Fix For: 4.24.0
Found while adding the catalog body types of flowable, camunda and bonita
(CAMEL-24961, PR #28418).
h4. 1. A producer to a channel that is not deployed yet fails every send with a
NullPointerException
When a route with {{to("flowable:myChannel")}} starts before the channel model
is deployed in the Flowable Event Registry,
{{FlowableComponent.createEndpoint}} (main 2a465aa4814c, line 33) creates a
bare {{FlowableEndpoint}} without an event registry configuration. Every send
then fails with a NullPointerException in {{FlowableProducer.process}} (line
44, {{eventRegistryEngineConfiguration}} is null) instead of a clear error.
Checked on 4.24.0-SNAPSHOT with an embedded Flowable engine (H2).
Proposed: fail with a clear message naming the channel key that is not deployed
(or look the configuration up at send time).
h4. 2. The doc gives the URI format as flowable-event://
{{flowable-component.adoc}} (main 2a465aa4814c, line 20) gives the URI format
as {{flowable-event://[channelKey]?[options]}}, but the scheme is {{flowable}}.
Read in the doc, not changed in the PR.
Proposed: change it to {{flowable:channelKey[?options]}}.
