Sorry about all the hassle Claus. I should've noticed all the extra commits
when I created the PR - I apologize. Looks like I didn't do very well with my
first attempt at creating a PR for something other than the master branch.
Thank you for completing the backport to 2.18. I'll give the backport to 2.17
another shot.
