I took another look the (imho) simplest and most intuitive implementation:

.to("https://swapi.co/api/films";)
.split().jsonpath("$.results[*].episode_id").streaming()
.convertBodyTo(String.class)
.setHeader(Exchange.HTTP_METHOD).constant(HttpMethods.GET)
.toD("https://swapi.co/api/films/${body}";)
.log("${body}")
.end();
{code}
is also optimized by Camel "org.apache.camel.processor.SendDynamicProcessor -
Optimising toD via SendDynamicAware component: https to use static uri:
https:swapi.co" and only creates only two ClientConnectionManagers (one for the
static to and one for the dynamic tos).
Fore some reason Camel can not optimize your code.
Maybe Claus can do something about that.
