Aaron, the official java client was not manitanined and is dead

You are welcome to create a JIRA to switch to a new active client. A list of
clients is at
https://nsq.io/clients/client_libraries.html
And it seems that this is active and MIT license so we can use that at ASF
https://github.com/sproutsocial/nsq-j
If you can work on that, create a JIRA and port the old code over to the new
client and send PR to ASF
