I'm sorry you feel that way. Please let me know what you see that could have
been implemented more simply--preferably without sacrificing flexiblity, and
while preserving interoperability with (i.e. extension from)
java.text.MessageFormat, since the expectation is that much code in the wild is
explicitly coded to MessageFormat and would thus only be usable with a subclass.
