Sebb commented on NET-186:
--------------------------
The project.properties file in SVN trunk says:
maven.compile.target=1.2
maven.compile.source=1.2
which is not compatible with using JDK regex classes, which are 1.4+
I could not find a statement anywhere as to which versions of Java are
supported by Commons NET.
> [net] [PATCH] RegexFTPFileEntryParserImpl - Removed dependency on
> org.apache.oro.text.regex packages

> Issue Type: Improvement

> When trying to build the Commons Net source, I found the dependency on the
> org.apache.oro.text.regex packages just for the implementation of VMS FTP
> entry parsers a bit heavy.
> So I decided to modifiy the classes RegexFTPFileEntryParserImpl and
> VMSVersioningFTPEntryParser to only use the regular expression classes from
> the JDK instead of Jakarta Oro. The changes were minimal, since the JDK
> classes already implement a Perl5-compatible regular expression engine.
> Although I have tested my changes, further testing may be advisable.
