Is parser doing "|" splitting? I thought it was line 487 in XMLConfiguration:

                Iterator it = PropertyConverter.split(
                        attr.getValue(),
                        isDelimiterParsingDisabled() ? ATTR_VALUE_DELIMITER
                                : getListDelimiter()).iterator();
