Attachment: BackgroundInitializer.patch
Slightly modified patch for {{BackgroundInitializer}}. The class was re-worked
for being a base class for {{MultiBackgroundInitializer}} (patch to follow). It
could be simplified a bit, which also makes reasoning about thread-safety
easier.
