I sent an email to the dev list but received no interest, only a note that the
JDK already contains number formatting capabilities. I'm currently working on
simplifying the code in question and hopefully increasing the performance. Once
that's done, I was planning on sending another email about it with some more
specific use cases and performance benchmarks.
