Right, had a look at the source code, and I think:
- before: `in.close()` (removed above) could throw any `IOException` directly
- after: `super.close()` will call `ProxyInputStream#close()` which will
then call `TaggedInputStream#handleIOException` (instead of
`ProxyInputStream#handleIOException`)
