listFiles() returns empty for "Windows NT" systems

Try as I might, I can't provoke a directory listing from a system reporting as
"Windows NT". The root of the server has no files, just directories, but the
problem is the directories are not being included in *.listFiles()*
Is Windows NT unsupported? Any workarounds I can use to extract directory
listings?
