Fixed in https://github.com/apache/commons-compress/pull/828/commits/6cc27a374fcd7269848b1c52d599fc691d5d4b1f The build on Java 28 will fix itself, when ASM 9.11 (release on October 4th) will propagate to all our build dependencies. That said, the requirement to build the library on JDK 8 are quite restrictive. For example we can not use Groovy 6, but an old version 4. The only practical advantage of these restrictions is to allow a third party to rebuild Commons Compress **from source** using JDK 8. Personally I find the Groovy script quite concise and it mostly consists of the code representation of various JSON objects we add to the SBOM. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
