This is the same error as VFS-296. In the patch for VFS-296 I went for your
alternate solution, that is, I used the existing soTimeout value for
setDefaultTimeout before connect. I don't have a preference between the two
solutions.
(VFS-296 is unfortunately not fixed, I don't know why. I asked about it on the
mailing list:
