Hi Bernd,
At a first look into the javadoc for 2.1 snapshot,
[FTP+NOT+SUPPORTED|http://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-vfs/apidocs/], this
functionality is still not supported.
I will check the code itself and I will be back with a response.
