This looks more like a missing feature in the PreparedStatement implementation
of crate.io
(https://github.com/crate/crate-jdbc/blob/master/src/main/java/io/crate/client/jdbc/CratePreparedStatement.java#L439).
I propose, that you report a feature request there. The JavaDoc of
PreparedStatement doesn't state that it is legal for a PreparedStatement to
return null from getParameterMetaData().
